Site Council Meetings are as follows and are held from 1-3pm at Minnesota Chippewa Tribal Community Building at 1308 E Franklin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404 on:

Provide engagement opportunities for all families to share their perspective on the budget.

  1. Hold a meeting at your school or in your community in late January to have an open and respectful sharing of views about what the priorities of the budget should be and what specific budgetary measures will best further the vision of the school.
    • Ask PTA to help get the word out about engagement opportunities and how important they are to developing the school budget.
  2. Dedicate one site council meeting in January or February to review the community’s priorities and forecast how those priorities can be accomplished in the next two or three years.
    • As a reminder, here is our policy on the role of site councils.
  3. Poll families to help determine the top priorities at the school.
  4. Explain the final decisions the principal made and the information used to support these decisions. This information could be shared in a school-wide meeting or in a written letter sent home; please use whatever methods work best in your school.

Communicate about engagement opportunities to all families and provide information about the district’s budget development process.

  1. Send home information in a letter, robocall, or e-newsletter, and post information about upcoming engagement opportunities on school website, social media, or other communications tools you use. Sample templates can be found here.
  2. Share information about the district-wide budget development process.
  3. Document the community- and school-determined priorities in your School Improvement Plans.
